Treating Our Drinking Water at the Point-of-Use

We need at least eight glasses of clean water daily

Water is one of the most essential elements for good health:
  • It is necessary for the digestion and absorption of food.
  • It supplies oxygen and nutrients to the cells.
  • It rids the body of wastes.
  • It regulates body temperature.
Hence, it is important that we drink at least eight glasses of clean water each day to maintain good health.

But our water is polluted by chemicals...

Although water covers more than 70% of the Earth, only 1% of the Earth's water is available as a source for drinking.

The world uses 120,000 types of chemicals, with another 1,000 types added to the list annually. These chemicals find their way as industrial and chemical wastes into the rivers and lakes which are the very sources of our drinking water. Acid rain caused by pollution in the air also ends up in rivers, adding to the problem.

And current water treatment methods are inadequate...

To treat water on a large scale basis to its highest purity and quality is a difficult and expensive task. Water treatment methods used by public water systems are inadequate for eliminating pollutants completely.

The treatment process also uses chlorine to destroy disease-producing contaminants that may be present in the water.

...resulting in Chlorine and other impurities in our tap water

Although tap water is generally considered safe to be drank directly, it contains chlorine that gives an unpleasant taste and odour. Tap water also contains various other impurities and pollutants which escaped public water treatment.

In particular, when there is a burst pipe, contamination occurs with bacteria, rust and other chemicals getting back into the water supply. This makes it unsafe to drink directly from the tap.

Our only viable course-of-action is Filter at the Point-of-Use

Since chlorine is required by public health regulations to be present in all public drinking supplies, it is up to the individual to remove it at the point-of-use in the home.
